The head of the City of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri, in a radio interview, spoke about the upcoming national legislative elections and the uncertainty regarding the possible PRO candidate to lead the list. Macri mentioned that a decision has not yet been made on this matter and that the deadline for presenting candidates is March 20.
Regarding the escape of prisoners and the tension generated with the national government, Jorge Macri reaffirmed that his responsibility as the city's leader is to protect the citizens and the millions who enter daily. He emphasized the importance of not relying on half-truths and the need to propose solutions for the city.
Concerning the situation of the penitentiary system, he mentioned that it is necessary to find a solution to free the Devoto prison, arguing that prisons should not be located in urban areas. He recalled the difference in the prison population before and after the pandemic and highlighted the management of the recovery of the Marcos Paz facility.
Jorge Macri also addressed the resignation of Waldo Wolff from the position of Minister of Security of the City to join the PRO campaign. He referred to the importance of not overlapping management and campaign roles, emphasizing that this is a short campaign and that they are meeting the established timelines.
Finally, Macri noted that he does not rule out the possibility of Mauricio Macri being a candidate for senator in the national elections, but pointed out that there is still time to define it, as the elections will be in October. He also criticized Patricia Bullrich's comments about the City as a "loot" and suggested that they might be more related to electoral issues than to real problems facing the city.
